Car Rental Information - What you need to know.
The Aussie Bargain standard quoted rates for sunshine coast car hire include up to 200 FREE kilometres per day (accumulative) for use within the Allocated Area (see Area of Use). This means that if you hire for 7 days you can travel up to 1400 kilometres without additional kilometre charges.
Additional kilometres are charged at 0.22 cents per kilometre. Additional or unlimited kilometres are available on hires of more than 3 days duration, within the agreed usage area and subject to an additional daily charge.
Because of the heavily discounted rates, long term hires may have a 50 or 100 km per day accumulative allowance. Please contact us for details.

In most cases drivers need to hold a valid full driver's licence (i.e. not provisional or learners). A current acceptable Australian, overseas, or International licence (in English or accompanied by an official English translation) is required from all intending drivers.
In some circumstances an Australian Driver's License holder who is in the last six months of their provisional licence (green P plates) may be approved to hire a car. Please contact our office to check if this is an option for you. Conditions may apply.
Motorhomes are available to hire by persons 25 to 75 years of age only. Some smaller Campervans may be available to drivers aged 21 to 24 years. Please check with our Office before booking. A number of our Campers require a Manual Driver's Licence and competence in driving a manual vehicle.
The minimum car hire charge is for 24 hours from time of pick up. Hires of less than 24 hours, will still be charged at the 24 hour rate.
Extended hires are charged at $10.00 per hour up to 3 hours and then a full day thereafter. A minimum of one full days excess reduction fee will apply where previously taken. If excess reduction for additional car rental time is not specifically taken or approved by us, the standard Insurance Excess for the extended rental hours will apply.
Payment for your hire is to be made at commencement of your rental period by either cash or approved credit card. Where applicable, a 1% Merchant transaction charge (Visa and Mastercard) will be added as part of your rental costs. AMEX Cards, attract an additional 1.8% Merchant transaction charge.
Please Note: Camper rental is charged on a daily basis rather than a 24 hour minimum basis as with car rental.
AREA OF USE
Aussie Bargain provide quality economy car rental and also cheap car hire Sunshine Coast options for use primarily on the Sunshine Coast, the Cooloola Coast, the Greater Brisbane area and the Gold Coast.
The standard Area of Use extends as far North as Bundaberg in Qld, as far South as Byron Bay in NSW and as far West as Toowoomba in QLD.
In certain circumstances we MAY agree to travel outside our normal Authorised Area of Use. This will only be with new and late model vehicles and may be subject to additional conditions of hire. The manager's specifc approval must be obtained to exceed the standard area of use and it must be noted on your rental contract by us. Use of your hire vehicle outside the approved Area of Use, as noted on the front page of your Rental Agreement, is a breach of the Rental Agreement and will attract extra kilometer fees and void any insurance excess waivers. The rental vehicle may have a tracking device fitted to help us identify vehicles taken outside the approved are of use, or stolen vehicles.
Our Campervans and Motorhomes have a widened Area of Use, depending on length of hire. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for Campervans and Motorhomes.
LOCAL CUSTOMER COLLECTION & RETURN
We are happy to collect our customers from either the Maroochydore Airport (Sunshine Coast Airport) or their local Marcoola, Mudjimba and Pacific Paradise accommodation during our office hours of 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday and 9:30 am to 1 pm on Sundays and Public Holidays. No charge applies for this service.
Pick Ups from the wider area of Mooloolaba to Nambour to Coolum may be subject to staff availability and minimum hire periods. A Pick Up fee will apply.. If you wish to be collected from your accommodation please add the request in the comments section of the booking form or discuss with our staff on the phone.
Our office is located adjacent to the Sunshine Coast Airport, less than a 1 minute drive from the terminal and is conveniently located in relation to most Hotels and Motels around Coolum, Marcoola, Maroochydore & Mooloolaba.
Please note that we may be able to deiver the car to you just outside the Sunshine Coast Airport terminal; in the Pick Up Area between the Arrivals and Departures. You will be given the registration number of the pick up vehicle which should have its lights on to make it easier identiy. You will aleady have receive a link to comprehensive photos of the vehicle condition, prior to your arrival. Details regarding your Pick Up process will be included in your confirmation email.
SUNSHINE COAST AIRPORT COLLECTION & RETURN
From 8.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Saturday and 9.30 am to 1 pm on Sundays and Public Holidays we offer a quick and convenient collection/return service from our office adjacent to the Airport.
By prior arrangement, we are able to deliver your rental car directly to you outside the airport terminal. This "No Contact or Low Contact' service is quick and efficient because the customer will have completed the Rental Contract requirements online and payment will have been taken before your arrival. You will have received an email link to photos of the vehicle condition (check your spam email for this if you can't find it.) This is the easiest method for collecting your Sunshine Coast car hire.
Upon your arrival at the airport, once you have collected all your luggage and the whole party is waiting together in the Pick Up area, please ring our Office on (07) 5450 5090. Our staff then will confirm with you the chosen vehicle Pick Up Procedure. They will also advise you of the make, model, rego number and colour of your rental car, so you can recognise it and give our Driver a wave to help identify you. The vehicle lights will be on to assist you in identifying the correct vehicle. The driver will then pull into the nearest available parking space to meet you.
At this point, the driver will confirm your identity and handover the car to you ready for your departure once you are loaded.
In circumstances where a customer has Not completed all rental requirements online, or has brought their own car seats or surfboard that requires fitting, you may be asked to proceed directly into the Terminal Car Park, where you will be supplied the vehicle. This is because of the Airport '2 minute Pick Up' rule.
It is a reality that flights are going to arrive at and depart from regional airports outside the normal opening hours of car rental agencies.
Some companies have to charge after hours fees for vehicle supply, that considerably adds to the rental costs. Here at Aussie Bargain we have we have found a solution that is simple and very cost effective. We make it easy for you to pick up or drop off your hire car out of hours.
With prior arrangement, for Out of Hours Hires, your hire car can be left for collection in, or returned to, the Public Car Park at the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) Airport. (parking)

- All rental documentation must be completed prior to hire
- Your rental period is pre-paid prior to commencement
- Your car is left in the airport car park for you to collect
- Airport parking charges are added to your quote when booking - we have no control over these fees
- Vehicle Pick Up - from airport car park = $12 (customer pays for applicable airport parking charge on exit)
- Delayed flights or flights arriving later in evening, or on Sundays and Public Holidays, will attract larger airport parking charges
- Vehicle Return - $30 overnight charge (Airport Parking costs $22 plus alone)
- Please enter your flight numbers during the booking process - these are essential to the time we set the hire car up at the airport
- You will be advised how to identify your car for pickup
- Instructions on unlocking or locking car are given when booking
- Your vehicle will be clearly marked and easy to find
The whole process is straight forward and very cost effective. Customers find it an easy process, whether it be picking up their pre-booked and pre-paid car on arrival at Maroochdore Airport after hours or when dropping off their rental car after hours.
Please remember that the vehicle always remains your responsibility until it can be claimed and checked by an Aussie Bargain representative.

BRISBANE AIRPORT COLLECTION AND RETURN
For the convenience of visitors to the Sunshine Coast, Aussie Bargain offers a conditional vehicle Drop Off and or Pick Up service at the Brisbane International or Domestic Airports.
Again details of this service will be subject to relocation fees, length of hire, and staff availability. This needs to be pre-arranged with our office. Please email us or phone us on (07) 5450 5090.
Fees for this service will be automatically added in the booking process when you select Brisbane Airport as your Pick Up and or Drop Off Location and will be subject to acceptance by our reservations manager.
As an alternative, we are happy to assist with organising shuttle or direct transfer services for our customers.
ONE WAY HIRES TO GOLD COAST
For those who are terminating their Sunshine Coast trip with a visit to the Gold Coast, vehicle Drop Offs can possibly be arranged at the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. Unless our staff member is meeting you by prior arrangement, you will be advised of how to leave your car in the Airport Car Park. for our staff to collect and return it to our Sunshine Coast base. Some car park fees will usually apply.
Minimum rental periods and vehicle relocation fees apply.

VEHICLE CHOICE AND SIZE
A regular problem that rental vehicle hirers encounter is arriving at their destination and discovering that the hire vehicle they have booked is not large enough for the volume of luggage they are traveling with. Either reducing the amount of travel luggage or hiring a larger car is the answer. We have a variety of larger cars and SUVs that will give you increased luggage space for your hire period.
Should you know you will be travelling around hilly places such as Nambour or the Blackall Range, it is wise to remember that a small car with a small engine may struggle in these environments. Todays small cars with small and very economical engines, don't necessarily have the power and torque to handle steep hills with ease. Automatic cars with larger engines will always cope easier with hills and don't cost that much more to hire for the power benefits and comfort they provide.
So please take luggage requirements, vehicle size and engine capacity into account when reserving your vehicle. A larger substitute vehicle may not always be available on the day.
Whilst every attempt is made to provide the customer's vehicle 'class of choice', rental vehicles are always subject to availability and may occasionally need to be changed or substituted at any time without the ability to give prior notice.
All prices are displayed in Australian currency and include GST. (Australia's Value Added Tax)
There is no charge for one additional driver as long as they meet the licience and age requirements.
Up to two extra drivers may be added at a fixed cost of $10 per driver. For each additional driver we must sight their licences and they must also sign the Rental Contract and accept all conditions.
Where an 'under age' driver is added to a Rental Agreement, the Excess conditions and fees will apply to all other authorised drivers of the vehicle.
Although our vehicles are well maintained and serviced, your peace of mind comes from knowing that we offer FREE 24 hour roadside mechanical breakdown assistance with RACQ for mechanical problems and breakdowns that the hirer has not contributed to.
RACQ call-outs for other problems such as keys locked in the car, assistance with a flat tyre, run out of fuel or left the lights on etc, attract a $85 service fee, plus any additional costs relating to the call out such as towing costs etc.
No vehicles are to be towed or repaired without the permission of Aussie Bargain Sunshine Coast management. We require you to advise us before any RACQ Callout whenever possible or as soon after as practicable. RACQ callout fees may apply and will be charged to you when applicable.
EARLY RETURNS / EXTENSIONS OF HIRE
The term of hire is for the period of time described in the Rental Agreement (Vehicle Hire Contract). Generally no refund is available if vehicle is returned before date shown on contract. In exceptional, unavoidable circumstances, consideration will be given by management and the unused portion of the hire may be credited to a future car rental, or rates adjusted to reflect the shorter hire period. In this circumstance an administration / business loss fee will apply.
Any extension of a hire must be agreed to by management prior to the time and date of return listed on the contract. Whenever an extension of hire is requested the customer must attend our office and sign a contract covering the extended period. Where this process is not practicable, our staff may agree to accept a request for the extension in writing via email or text message. Such a request will need to clearly indicate the requested extension of hire period and give us permission to charge the relevant credit card for all costs relating to that extension period. Failure to abide by this requirement means the Rental Contract will terminate on the date marked on the Agreement. A hirer who fails to return any vehicle after the Agreement has been terminated may be deemed to be in unlawful posession of a motor vehicle.
If an extension of a hire is not agreed to, the vehicle must be returned by the time and date specified at commencement of hire or it may be reported stolen.
All extensions of hire MUST be paid for on or before the extension period commences. It is a serious breach of our contract to be in possession of a hire vehicle that has not been paid for.
Because of costs and loss of hire opportunity and revenue, cancellations made once a vehicle has been reserved for you attract a cancellation fee.
- Within 24 hours - 3 days rental charges
- Within 7 days - 1 days rental charge
- More than 7 days - no fee applicable
Cancellations within 24 hours, where the vehicle collection point was Brisbane International or Brisbane Domestic Airport, may also be subject to applicable relocation charges.

All hirers are responsible for their own fuel costs. Whilst our vehicles are normally supplied with a full tank of fuel, this may not always be the case.
Vehicles should be returned with a fuel level not less than that supplied at the commencement of the hire. Should the vehicle be returned short of fuel it will be re-fuelled by our staff and the deficit charged the hirer's credit card or cash bond. A re-fuelling fee $15 will be charged in addition to the cost of the fuel.
Only he correct octane of fuel is to be used in our hire cars. Many new vehicles, especially cars fitted with a turbo, now require RON 95 Octane or higher fuel to run correctly. These vehicles will have the required Octane Rating recorded in the car refuelling point. It is a breach of the hire agreement to use incorrect fuel in the hire car.
Our refueling fee is deliberately reasonable to encourage customers not to risk missing a flight because of lack of time to refuel the car. Refueling fees with our competitors at inflated cost per litre, can often be quite expensive. ANOTHER ADVANTAGE OF USING AUSSIE BARGAIN CAR RENTALS.
FEES - CLEANING AND SMOKING IN VEHICLE
We take pride in supplying our customers with a well cleaned and presented, Smoke Free vehicle. We ask that you respect our vehicles and return them in a similar clean state.
Mats are provided to make it easy to leave sand at the beach and grass in the paddocks; not in or on the vehicle's carpets or upholstery. We appreciate your emptying sand etc from the car mats regularly, to minimise cleaning and costs that may otherwise be incurred.
SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED IN ANY OF OUR VEHICLES.
Minimum Extra Cleaning / Sanitation Fees of $45 and up to $350 will apply when a vehicle is returned in an unacceptably dirty or a smelly condition. If any evidence of smoking within the vehicle is found a minimum $100 CLEANING AND SANITATION charge will be applied. No exceptions.

We treat our customers information as highly confidential and all measures are taken to ensure that it remains safe and confidential.
